What happens to the baby?

The baby is already about 17-18 cm long and weighs approximately 160g. His/her ears take their position on both sides of the head, and the eyes are getting closer to each other. The already formed retina becomes susceptible to light. This means that the baby can almost see, as long as the eyes get completely formed.

If you call your baby with the sweet word “chick”, you will be quite right now! This is because the baby is fully covered with fine down called lanugo.

What happens to you?

The great news this week is that you can feel your baby moving! Until now the midget has been also moving and you have seen the scheme of its pulse during the echography examination, but right now, your own body will start feeling it clearly and distinctly.

Your little chick might still flit wings uncertainly, but gradually you will feel how he/she becomes more confident and starts clearly signalizing that he/she is inside.

Do not worry if you do not feel your baby’s movements during this week. Do not forget that your body is different and what happens to other moms would not certainly happen to you.

However, you should be careful of whether you and the baby do not deviate too much from the usual development at the different stages of the pregnancy. If you notice serious discrepancies, consult with your gynecologist.

This week you should ...

make the required tests – During this week you should undergo an ultrasound test, as well as amniocentesis or a biochemical screening for congenital malformations.

organize a romantic date with your sweetheart – Soon the moments of intimate affection with your sweetheart will become rarer. Get use of the fact that you have forgotten the unpleasant conditions related to nausea. Now, when indispositions are missing, it is time to remember how much you love each other.

keep the baby’s first pictures – If you already have echography pictures, you can put them in the album with the baby’s first pictures. This will be among your memories after the baby grows – yours and the baby’s, and all relatives will be pleased to remember how you have grown up.
